Abstract

This paper is to clarify the situation with the current media content analysis of news programs in Japan, has been designed to obtain information necessary for teaching media literacy. National Television Violence Study in the United States (1996-1998) based on create a chart documentation and coding, a total of 54 hours 29 minutes from weak samples, extracts of this news program 57, the frequency and contextual analysis of the portrayal of violence and its pro-social behavior. As a result, violence is seen in 70% of the program, was also found to reduce the negative context, such as punishment for their actions. Meanwhile, the Representative has fewer pro-social behavior, promote the learning context of the act than other genres is less.
