Abstract

Kansei engineering was used to research the relationship between design elements and Kansei sensibility values in the design of earth moving machinery. The research led to several findings concerning construction machinery design that take into account the effect of such human sensibilities as the motivation to operate or acquire, or factors of psychological comfort such as familiarity, attractiveness and comfort. It is reported that design innovation has been enhanced by the use of this sensibility database. Relevance to industryKansei engineering is used to support construction machinery design as a scientific method of incorporating human sensibilities into applied design. It is also used in market research to conduct factor analysis of high demand products by comparative evaluation using Kansei values.
