Abstract

This type of injury is usually the result of an occupational accident, drug abuse, or is iatrogenic in origin. Identification of the injected material, point of entry, and the existence of neurovascular compromise or infection are essential to proper management. Prompt surgical treatment is important. Early motion exercises help minimize joint stiffness and do not seriously delay wound closure.
