Abstract

The medical test for diving fitness enables the physician to detect possible risk factors and to instruct canidates carefully. In most cases psychical and physical stability guarantees safe diving. Despite of fitness a variety of factors may cause troubles such as jetlag, temperature differences, intake of drugs, of alcohol, lack of training or exhaustion. These factors cause a high risk of diving accidents. To prevent accidents divers must be instructed in appropriate handling of these factors with special regard to hypothermia and hyperthermia.
