Abstract

The contribution of health promotion research to public health is examined. The state of the the art in health promotion research is described and several key issues emerging within the field are identified. Large strides in the development of health promotion research have been made in the previous decade. Health promotion research is developing an ethos and a core research agenda for the new public health.
