Abstract

Doctors are increasingly involved in child protection proceedings which consider whether emotional abuse has occurred. This may be a complex and difficult area, hindered by the paucity of consensus opinion and research in this area. This review suggests how doctors can assist in the decision-making process and outlines the management of children and adults who suffer sequelae of emotional abuse.
