Abstract

Emma Gad’s pair of plays, Ægtestand (Marriage) and De unge Drømme (Young Dreams), anticipate the film genre Stanley Cavell called “the comedy of remarriage.” They draw on and parody plays by Ibsen, but also present striking parallels to aspects of modernist drama, notably the genre of the chamber play.
