Abstract

The theme of this issue is “Violence Among Multicultural Populations.” It is a collection of five articles that explore and examine the impact of race and ethnicity on the experience of violence among minority populations. First article is a qualitative study that interviewed 20 Israeli Arab men and women and explored Israeli Arab couples’ perceptions of police intervention in intimate partner violence. The second article, reported the findings of a qualitative study that explored how Latino immigrant male batterers make sense of their incarceration for domestic violence in the U.S. and its impact on their lives and on the lives of their family members. While the first two studies address issues of domestic violence, the next two articles deal with issues of dating violence among adolescents. First study examined the relationship between acculturation, gender stereotypes, recent aversive and fearful dating experiences, and attitudes about dating violence among 442 dating, urban Latina/o youth. The second article focuses on prevention programs for dating violence. This issue also contains review of the three books. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)
