Abstract

In research on family violence, two important variables from an interpersonal perspective are the use of conflict solving strategies in the couple and the existence of romantic jealousy. This study arises from the need to translate and adapt scales measuring these variables Specifically, the study validates the Conflict Tactic Scale (CTS2) (Straus, Hamby, Boney-McCoy & Sugarman, 1996) and the Romantic Jealousy Scale (White, 1976), paying special attention to their psychometric properties. The correlations between the variables conflict solving strategies and romantic jealousy are described, focusing on the existing relationship between the Romantic jealousy Scale and one of the two factors yielded by the CTS2 (psychological actions). Finally, the meaning of this correlation is discussed within a family violence framework.
