Abstract

Factor validity of a Spanish version of the Conflict Tactics Scale 2 (CTS2) was administered to a sample of 230 Mexican women. The CTS2 subscales were later associated with socio-demographic characteristics and related variables. Confirmatory factor analysis identified a 3-factor structure: emotional and physical violence, sexual violence, and high-risk violence. Variance analysis shows that emotional and physical violence is more frequently exerted against women that are less than 30 years old and have less schooling. High risk violence is more frequent among women who do not work. Significant associations were found between violence and some perceived motives, partners' alcohol use, family history of domestic violence, and violence during pregnancy.
