Abstract

Family violence is mostly used against women. It is the cause of heavy psychological and physical damages as well as social and economic costs. It also has a repercussion on the future generations. Medical practitioners should be prepared to recognise these situations in order to give support, counsel and assistance to victims of abuse. Training in family violence should be included in pre and post courses in Medical School programs.
