Abstract

This article explores the characteristics of borderline personality disorder, a disorder that may occur with relative frequency in adolescents who have been severely maltreated. Behaviors indicating the possibility of borderline personality disorder existing are reviewed, as are comorbid disorders. Suggestions for treatment for the adolescent and his or her family are explored.
