Abstract

Highway transportation is very complex and many people have difficulty explaining the inner-relationships of its organization. Defining the components and inner-relationships of the highway transportation system, evaluating the major traffic problems, establishing areas of responsibility for the reduction of casualties, and estimating the reduction in casualties that is possible in the next decade are the four main points discussed in this article.
