Abstract

An HIV-positive prostitute who transmitted the virus by biting a man faces the possibility of being charged in his death. The 92-year-old Elmer Hutto died of AIDS-related pneumonia and his death has been ruled a homicide by the Palm Beach County, FL medical examiner. The prostitute is currently serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated battery and robbery. A Florida Court of Appeals upheld her 10-year sentence because exposing the elderly Hutto to HIV was especially atrocious and cruel.
