Abstract

Discusses the need for a definite meaning of the terms in psychology. Stresses that scientific terms employed should stand for some definite, clearly expressed, specifically outlined concepts. Illustrates giving examples of the concept behind the name dementia praecox. Mentions few terms which need a clearer, truer, better definition or delineation like neurasthenia, hysteria, consciousness, subconsciousness and the like. Suggests that the use of the same terms, with the same ideas or concepts in mind, will lead to less disagreement, less misunderstanding, more harmony, more good will, more rapid progress, and more scientific and accurate observations and thinking.
