Abstract

Discusses the treatment of the symptoms in various fatigue states. Describes three types of fatigue states - physiological fatigue, psychological fatigue and psychopathological fatigue, which might form grounds for the development of psycho-neurotic symptoms. Fatigue from mental strain persists longer than fatigue from physical strain. Various systems have been developed by different men for the management of these states, including the rest cure. Emphasizes that the mental attitude of patients suffering from the chronic states are to be changed by the formation of groups of complexes. Cites 2 illustrative cases which were benefited by the use of conversation method as a form of treatment of fatigue states. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
