Abstract

Some of the ways in which current disaggregate modeling techniques can be applied to conventional transportation model systems are discussed with reference to actual studies. The logit model which is particularly suited to situations in which the individual can choose between more than two alternatives is described with reference to the multinomial form. Details are given of the Wilson entropy maximizing model, and similarities to the former are noted. The application is outlined of logit to the calibration of multi-modal Wilson type trip distribution and modal split model, and it is noted that models can be more readily estimated for more complex situations than is at present done; also considerable savings in data collection can be achieved.
