Abstract

A lesional typology investigation concerning road traffic accidents has been carried out in order to have "a picture" of the injured during a given period of time. 5,459 files were collected during two years from several hospitals. The aim of the study was to obtain during a short time data on injuries of traffic accident victims. It is concluded that head and neck lesions are frequent for all road users. Contrary to bicycle users who are vulnerable, other two wheel users are less frequently injured, due to helmet wearing. Cephalic lesion is frequent to pedestrians which is due both to impact on the vehicle and to secondary fall on the ground. (TRRL)
