Abstract

Germany is due to its central position within Europe the transit country number one. The National Statistics point out the disproportionate increase of accidents with truck involvement. The Institute for Vehicle Safety is presently performing an intensive total investigation of serious truck accidents with personal injury in Bavaria from the year 1997. This paper comprises first evaluations and potentials for additional enhancement of active and passive truck safety.
