Abstract

A traumatic event can be defined as "witnessing or facing an event which involves death or threat of death, serious injury, and threat toward the individual's or others' physical integrity." Perception of and reacting to these events as traumatic can be related with healthy and defensive narcissism. A total of 160 subjects at a age range of 18-24 were given "Self Psychology", "Locus of Internal and External Control" and "Impact of Events" inventories. Results indicate that being stuck on developmental line of defensive narcissism has effect on locus of control and perceived traumatic impact of events.
