Abstract

Digital maps contribute to the total driving experience through features which enhance or enable many active driver assistance and safety (ADAS) systems. The article focuses on these maps, once only the domain of route guidance. The author argues that ADAS enhanced by digital maps can peak driver interest, enable a range of safety features, and improve performance. Digital mapping by NAVTEQ is highlighted.
