Abstract

A collaborative effort between three organisations TUeV SUeD Automotive, GeneSys and Dewetron has produced DEWE-CAPS which is intended for the analysis of complex advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The accuracy requirements for longitudinal control test equipment (relative position, relative velocity and relative heading) are given. Other relevant parameters include acceleration, speed, three-dimensional track data, corner radius and the precise time reference. Position and velocity sensing was carried out using the GeneSys Automotive Dynamic Motion Analyzer (ADMA). Two cars each fitted with both devices were used for tests. The synchronization of data is essential to reach the required accuracies is described. No test standards or respective test scenarios had previously been established for the characterisation of ADAS and the evaluation of their capabilities. Eleven test scenarios are defined such as steady state distance, deceleration in convoy or identification of motorcycles. An exemplary result is given for where the maximum deceleration rate of different cars was evaluated while approaching a convoy.
