Abstract

Driver assistance systems (DARs) are designed to ensure safety in difficult situations, and therefore have a substantial influence on a car's handling and braking characteristics. DARs accomplish their mission by controlling slip on individual wheels to prevent a vehicle from over- or understeering. Through this interaction, they have a major effect on the performance parameters of winter tires, which is an aspect that should not be ignored in tire tests.
