Abstract

Advanced Protection Systems (APROSYS) is a European project that is part of the European Union's main research funding instrument, the Sixth Framework Programme for research and technological development. Co-funded by the European Commission, it has partnered road safety's industrial and scientific communities in the quest to reduce traffic accident fatalities and injury severity for the last five years. Due to the long lead time required for safety system introduction, the passive safety the APROSYS promotes is expected to make a lasting impact only after 2010.The public and market will be presented with APROSYS project results during the APROSYS project's final event, to be held February 17-18, 2009 in Amsterdam.
