Abstract

This article discusses accident record systems (ARS), and uses an inventory of existing processes and systems to make recommendations on an 'ideal' microcomputer database program using existing technology and software. The article comments on the future direction of the best possible accident database and the software to analyze such a system. Different types of ARSs are discussed, and ARSs in Georgia are reviewed. A statewide questionnaire concerning the use of ARS in Georgia is described, and the results are discussed. The details of a prototype accident record system are described. Suggestions are made as to how the data quality may be improved. A scanning system for data input into the computer is described.
