Abstract

This article reviews recent research on the psycho-physiological characteristics of drivers carried out by the road design department of moscow automobile and road construction institute. Sections of road with high accident concentrations are connected with higher pulse frequency, increased galvanic skin response (gsr), etc. regular recording of the value of gsr along the road section with different road conditions indicates that the motorist's organism is sensitively responding to the changes of road conditions and its complexity. The graph showing the changes of gsr along the road is similar to the graph showing the changes of "safety coefficient" along the road.
