Abstract

The most recent edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), published in 2000 by the Federal Highway Administration, is a complete revision of former manuals and includes important changes regarding signage, signals, temporary traffic control, school areas and bicycle facilities. The manual has also been reformatted for ease of use and its language has been revised for clarity purposes. The manual provides standards and guidelines to help public works professionals in designing, constructing, operating and maintaining public infrastructure. The manual is available on the MUTCD Web site at mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov.
