Abstract

This article focuses on roundabouts by addressing common public misconceptions associated with modern roundabouts, as well as emphasizing their benefits. It discusses how roundabouts can lead to an increase in pedestrian safety, are able to accommodate bicycle traffic, accept truck traffic through the use of a truck apron, increase intersection capacity, reduce vehicle delay, and provide an aesthetic improvement to an intersection.
