Abstract

In an earlier article, this writer had addressed calculating the closing speeds of two vehicles approaching at right angles. It was shown that the Pythagorean Theorem: C2 = A2 + B2 could be used as the model and by relating the two vehicles' approaching velocities and their respective distances from the point of impact, their closing speed could be determined. But what if the vehicles are not approaching at right angles? This article addresses this subject and outlines two procedures for determining the closing speeds of two vehicles approaching at general angles which are not right angles.
