Abstract

The author describes his step-by-step reconstruction of a highway accident involving a tractor trailer rig and a passenger van. Using statements from the driver of the rig, from law enforcement reports, and from a videotape of the accident scene the author theorizes that a saturated asphalt pavement coupled with heat from truck braking erased skid marks crucial to accident investigation.
