Abstract

The Fatal Accident Frequency Rate for mountaineering accidents in Peru is estimated at 25,000 based on five years of data. All of the fatal accidents occurred in the Cordillera Blanca region. Avalanche conditions were responsible for a large proportion of the fatalities.
