Abstract

The link between premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and deviant behaviour is examined in this paper. Easteal discusses historical, medical and feminist perspectives on the issue, and presents a summary of research findings. She reviews the application of PMS as a defence strategy both in Australia and overseas. In looking to the future, Easteal highlights the need to know more about specific diagnostic criteria, aetiology and effective treatment.
