Abstract

Parent education and the prevention of child abuse and neglect continue to be important and difficult goals. A project with a group of urban mothers seeking help in the parenting role illustrates the effects of environmental factors and their use as intervention tools. The efficacy of establishing a self-help type of group in a poor urban area is demonstrated.
