Abstract

Relocation of the elBerly (voluntary and involuntary) occurs in one of the following directions: (1) community to institu- tion; (2) institution to institut~on; (3) institution to community; and (4) community to community.' T h ~ s article discusses a unique relo- cation-namely a voluntary, transatlantic cross-cultural relocation of elderly persons from North America to Israel. Effects of reloca- tion and migration on health will be reviewed, factors affecting el- derly persons' adaptation to this new society will be discussed, a pro am designed to help immigrants cope with relocation stress wil P be described and individual reactions to transcultural relocation will be presented.
