Abstract

Relocation of a chronically ill aged client causes relo- cation stress, and staff working in long t e n care facilities need to interact and plan care in such a manner as to reduce problems assocl- ated with this relocation. The authors discuss territoriality and its interrelationship with relocation, as well as the types of relocation that the aged client might experience. Staff workin in long t e n care facilities should be helped by learning which c B n t is most at risk for relocation stress, the procedure to use when relocation must happen, monitoring of the relocated client, plans for the relocated clieni and some suggestions to use when the client must leave the facility.
