Abstract

Reminiscing in old age is currently recognized as a potentially adaptive process that can aid late life adjustment. A description of a program designed to facilitate reminiscing within a long-term care setting is presented. The rationale behind the program as it relates to theory and research is explored. The three stages of the program are explained in terms of their therapeutic aspects. The content of each stage is presented so that program duplication is encouraged. Resources and materials are listed in order to assist with duplication of the program. Reminiscing within a structured program appears to provide a meaningful activity at the individual, group and facility levels.
