Abstract |
The purpose of this article is to review relevant legal and ethical considerations as they pertain to fitness-for-duty evaluations (FFDEs) within the criminal justice system. Although not exhaustive, relevant case law will be reviewed that sheds light on an agency's right and responsibility to assess the psychological fitness of its employees. Ethical considerations as they relate to the FFDE will be drawn from the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychologists. |
