Abstract

Poisoning is prevalent in all parts of the India but the epidemiology of poisoning varies from place to place. In advanced countries it has been observed that poisoning deaths are mainly due to the cleansing agents, detergents, cosmetics and other substances. In India agro-chemicals dominate poisoning. As Punjab is the food bowl of country so here insecticides and other agro-chemical fertilizers are used to a greater extent than in some other areas and are responsible for causing the majority of the poisoning mortality and morbidity.
