Abstract

Richele Thompson, NP, explains that with the United States becoming increasingly ethnically diverse, under-standing of intimate partner violence in other cultures is essential for nurse practitioners. Approximately 1.5 million U.S. women are physically assaulted by intimate partners each year. Partner violence also occurs against men, but these incidents are reported much less frequently.
