Abstract

Despite being fun places where children play, playgrounds can pose serious safety risks. Where contributing factors are known, falls from playground equipment are the leading cause of all child fall-related hospitalization in Austarlia.

Laboratory studies have identified surface type, depth, level of use (compression) and various environmental conditions as factors for surface impact attenuation performance.
