N2  - Developed and tested the Fear of Rape Scale. 511 female college students (aged 16-59 yrs) provided initial data for item analysis. The resulting scale comprised 36 items and was administered to 167 female college students (aged 16-53 yrs). Psychometric analysis supported the the reliability and construct validity of the scale. Factors of marital status, living arrangements, and age did not predict fear of rape. Longer length of residence in the neighborhood, however, was related to a lesser fear of rape.
