N2  - There is a great deal of speculation about why women are at greater risk than men for being diagnosed with PTSD. Among the plausible arguments are (1) differences in the types of trauma experienced, (2) inflated rates due to methodological gender bias, (3) socially defined social roles and confounding stressors, (4) biological differences, and (5) differences in cognitive perceptions of traumatic events. The following conceptual study outlines and disputes these arguments using relevant research findings and logical reasoning, while paying particular attention to how the arguments interplay in feminist therapy.<p />
