TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Intervention in a pediatric hospital with young adolescents having attempted suicide JO - Médecine et hygiène A1 - Gauthey, M. A1 - Caflisch, M. SP - 337 EP - 342 VL - 53 IS - 2059 N2 - The follow-up of very young adolescents who attempt suicide confronts the clinician with the special problems of this population, which were analyzed in an epidemiological study of 53 adolescents admitted to the hospital during 1993. We also studied the characteristics of the 'transfer' which they establish towards their therapists and its implication for follow-up. The results of this epidemiological study showed an increase in the number of attempted suicides during the last two years (from 12 cases per year to 53 in 1993), with an important number of repeated attempts (48%). 30% of the patients will not follow treatment after hospitalisation, and another 36% of the patients will follow a relatively satisfactory treatment. Patients after long-term hospitalisation (15 patients for more than 3 weeks) showed clearly a better therapeutic compliance (67% versus 36%).
