SP - 228 EP - 230 VL - 5 IS - 4 N2 - Nerium oleander poisoning may be life-threatening because of its cardiac toxicity. The authors report the case of a woman who tried to commit suicide by ingestion of 15 leaves of Nerium oleander. The cardiac complications were major since she developped ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest after complete atrioventricular block. As Oleandrin, which has a close structure with glycosides, was responsible of these cardiac troubles, the digoxin-specific Fab fragments were successfully used. The digoxin-specific fragments antibodies should be used in the management of severe Nerium oleander poisoning.
