N2 - OBJECTIVE To observe the temporal dynamics changes of brain functional connectivity (FC) in first-episode depression patients with suicidal ideation (SI).
METHODS A total of 57 first-episode depression patients with SI (SI group), 42 first-episode depression patients without SI (NSI group) and 48 healthy volunteers (HC group) were prospectively enrolled. Brain functional MRI and depression related scale evaluation were performed, the time variability of global, inter- and intra-hemispheric dynamic FC density (dFCD) were quantified based on the standard deviation of FC density (FCD), and the temporal dynamics changes of brain FC were analyzed.
RESULTS The total score of Hamilton depression scale 24-items (HAMD-24) of SI group was higher than that of NSI group (P <0.05). The global dFCD variance of left middle temporal gyrus in SI group was higher than that in NSI group and HC group (both P <0.05), of right middle temporal gyrus in SI group was higher than that in HC group ( P <0.05). The intra-hemispheric dFCD variance of right middle temporal gyrus/inferior frontal gyrus in SI group and NSI group were lower than those in HC group (both P <0.05).
CONCLUSION FC of frontal and temporal lobes dynamically changed in first-episode depression patients with SI. © 2022 Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging Technology. All rights reserved.
