In Indian society women have been subjected to violence the hands of their husband and his family members. Present study was conducted on dead bodies brought for the purpose of post-mortem examination during t he period of Januar y 2016 to December 2016 at Department of Forensic Medicine, P.D.U. Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Rajkot. The present study has been carried out to realize the social, ethical and medico-legal aspects of death of married women in related to dowry, putt ing sincere eff ort s to establish the vari ous f actors responsible for the same and thereby to plan successful preventive measures. The present study clearly points out that incidence of alleged dowry death is more common in 21 to 25 years of age group of women, who is not working (housewife), most common cause of death is burns. © 2022, Medico Legal Society.
