TY - JOUR PY - 2022// TI - Academic burnout as a predictive factor of suicide risk in nursing students JO - Index de Enfermería (Granada) A1 - Ardiles-Irarrázabal, R. A1 - Sandoval, C.C. SP - EP - VL - 31 IS - 1 N2 - OBJECTIVE: To relate the academic burnout syndrome with the suicide risk in nursing students at a university in the north of Chile.

METHODology: quantitative, correlational, and cross-sectional approach, of non-experimental design. Main results: the participants reported 10 % of the sample with moderate and severe suicide risk, and both variables presented statistically significant relationships (r =,501; p<,000). Main conclusion: There is a relationship between academic burnout and suicide risk. Likewise, the timely and early detection of the relationship between academic burnout and suicidal risk can help prevent suicidal behavior and even suicide in nursing students. It is urgent that universities seek early screening strategies for burnout syndrome and thus avoid tragedies such as associated suicide. © 2022, Fundacion Index. All rights reserved.
