N2  - Samaritanus bonus, the letter published in 2020 by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on the ethical principles that should inform the care given to patients at the end of life, is both classic in the standards it recalls and quite innovative in its method. If the Catholic Church renews its rejection of assisted suicide and euthanasia, it does so by constantly articulating respect for life with the requirement to remain present to the patient and to see him or her as a being in relationship, following Laudato si'.
