N2  - This investigation aimed to report the prevalence and its correlates of single suicide attempts and multiple suicide attempts among adolescents in Vanuatu. Cross-sectional nationally representative data were analysed from 2,159 adolescents (with a median age of 15 years) that participated in the "2016 Vanuatu Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSHS)." The results show that 22.5% of the students had made a suicide attempt in the past 12 months (15.4% single suicide attempts and 7.1% multiple suicide attempts). In adjusted multinomial logistic regression analysis, anxiety, bullying victimization, involvement in physical fighting, multiple sexual partners, and having ever been drunk were associated with multiple suicide attempts (past year). In addition, having sustained an injury was associated with single suicide attempt. Almost one in six students had made a single suicide attempt, and one in fourteen students had made multiple suicide attempts (past year), and several associated variables were detected that can be used to aid in designing intervention strategies. © Nova Science Publishers, Inc.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
