N2  - This investigation aimed to report the prevalence and its correlates of physical violence (physical attacks and fighting) among adolescents in Nepal. Cross-sectional nationally representative data of 6,529 school children (14.3 years mean age) Class 7-11 from the 2015 Nepal "Global School-based Health Survey (GSHS)" were analysed. <br><br>RESULTS indicate that 45.2% of participants reported physical attack (50.3% in boys and 40.1% in girls) and 39.3% (43.7% in boys and 34.9% in girls) in physical fight in the past 12 months. In adjusted logistic regression analysis, younger age, rarely or sometimes going hungry, male sex, risk behaviour (bullying victimization, and injury), school truancy and lack of parental support were associated with physical attack, while male sex, rarely or sometimes going hungry and risk behaviours (waking or biking to school, current tobacco use, bullying victimization and injury) were associated with in physical fight. Almost half of students were involved in physical violence (physical attacks and physical fighting) and several associated variables were identified which can aid in designing intervention strategies. © Nova Science Publishers, Inc.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
